Coffee

My entry for EvilAuthoressK-chan's Coffee Contest.

I wasn't sure at all whether this should go in traditional or digital contests, but despite the heavy use of digital stock I chose to place it in traditional due to the fact that what I wish to be the focus of the image, the drawing itself, was done in traditional media.

The prompt behind the contest was to create an entry that involved coffee in some way shape or form. Obviously, the cup of coffee adheres to that stipulation, but my main use of coffee was actually in the painting itself, which was painted in coffee.

The shading was achieved by creating different concentrations of filtered coffee grounds and water, and then painting with them as if they were watercolors. The painting itself is done completely traditionally with coffee and ink for the outline, and was done completely by me.
